Schools workshops

Our workshops are learning journeys exploring particular aspects of the Eden Project. Facilitated by our experienced Education Officers, the input and participation of your school staff is essential to the success of these programmes. The programmes start and finish in our education building, the Core, and include an exploration of one or more of Eden's three Biomes (Rainforest, Mediterranean or Outdoor). All programmes are curriculum linked and explore issues relating to education for sustainable development.

 

Price: £4.50 per student (includes admission)

 

Maximum group size: 35 students; minimum charge of £90 applies for groups of fewer than 20.

 

All visits must be booked in advance by filling in our online school visit request form.

Foundation & KS 1

 

A Pocketful of Eden

Journey deep into the heart of Eden and use your senses to discover a magical world of plants and people. Part-led by an Eden Education Officer, this fun, engaging and safe activity is an ideal learning experience for Early Years children visiting the Eden Project. 30 minute introduction followed by supported exploration.

A Feast for the Senses

A sensory adventure of sounds, sights, textures, smells and tastes which explores the world of plants in unusual ways. Cross curricular. Years 1-3. One hour 30 minutes.

Green Machines

There's more to plants than meets the eye. Take an exciting journey through the world of plants unlocking the secrets of what makes our green friends thrive and survive. Science. Years 1-3. One hour 30 minutes.

Key Stage 2

 

Crazy Chef Challenge

A delicious Global Cake is the prize, but can your students unravel the clues, find the plants and collect the ingredients to solve the Crazy Chef’s Challenge? Geography and Citizenship. Years 3 & 4. One hour 45 minutes.

Rainforest Rangers

Students take up the challenge to become qualified Rainforest Rangers, learning about life in the forest along the way. Geography. Years 3 & 4. Two hours.

A Tribe called Eden

In partnership with Woodland Valley Farm residential centre www.woodlandvalley.co.uk, this 2 day challenge sets Year 5 & 6 pupils a mission which will take them to Eden's Rainforest Biome and a Cornish woodland in search of adventure and understanding in the natural world.

Key Stage 3

 

Jungle Connections

Explore one of the most extreme and complex places on Earth; the Rainforest. Your students will map their own connections to the Tropical Rainforest and investigate how their choices as consumers can make a difference. Geography and Citizenship. Two hours.

Going to Extremes

How do plants feed themselves, reproduce and survive, all whilst rooted to the spot? Students investigate adaptations to life in the tropics and look into the implications of a changing climate for the future of plants and people. Science and Sustainability. Two hours.

Plant Idol

What did plants ever do for us? Food, drink, medicine, fuel – our vital plant resource is to be preserved in a global seedbank being created deep under the arctic ice. We look into the importance of biodiversity and debate which plants will guarantee our future survival. Geography and Science. Two hours.
