Eden’s Arts Café returns with brass-heavy ska group Pondlife

July 27, 2009

The Eden Project’s Arts Café will make its spectacular return on Friday August 7.

After a break in July to make way for the Eden Sessions, Arts Café will stage its comeback with a brass-heavy set from 10-piece Penzance-based ska maestros Pondlife.

Arts Café’s resident DJs Jelly Jazz will also be appearing, playing their trademark mixture of funk, soul and jazzy breaks.

Arts Café takes place in Eden’s spectacular Core building. Featuring alongside the music will be delicious wholesome food and drink, video workshops from local artist Lee Hodges and the ever-present marketplace of ideas, where visitors can find out about and discuss Eden’s charitable programmes.

Representatives from Greenpeace and the wildflower conservation charity Landlife will also be on hand to discuss their projects and ideas.

Beth Lewitt, Eden’s Events Manager, said: “After a short break, Arts Café is back and funkier than ever. Pondlife will make sure the party’s pumping while Jelly Jazz will be backing them up with some deliciously funky beats.”

Arts Café admission for August 7 is £7 and anyone who books in advance by calling 01726 811972 or visiting www.edenproject.com gets a free drink. The event starts at 7pm and finishes at 12.30am.

On September 4, Arts Café celebrates its first birthday with one of the biggest and best parties Eden has ever seen. Music comes from nine-piece Israeli funk instrumentalists The Apples as well as Jelly Jazz with more to be announced. The first birthday Arts Café on September 4 costs £15.
