Cornish chef joins Cornwall's Big Lunch campaign

June 30, 2010

Sanjay Kumar, The Greenbank Hotel’s Head Chef, has thrown his weight behind this year’s Big Lunch on Sunday 18th July.

Sanjay is offering one lucky Cornish community his culinary skills for Big Lunch day. So now there really is no excuse not to host your own Big Lunch – simply visit http://www.thebiglunch.com/ to find out how

With a particular passion for championing local Cornish producers, Sanjay will bring his skills to the fore working with all the ingredients the winning Big Lunch team can offer.

Organised by the Eden Project, the aim of the Big Lunch is to get people across the UK to sit down with their neighbours for lunch on Sunday 18th July. Eden’s aim for 2010 is that Cornwall will lead the way in this simple act of community.

Peter Stewart, the Eden Project’s campaigns and communications director, said: “Sanjay’s contribution will definitely make this a Big Lunch to remember, so if you haven’t already signed up to host your Big Lunch, now’s the time to do so - and what a great opportunity for anyone interested in food to prepare lunch alongside one of Cornwall’s most talented chefs.”

Sanjay Kumar, The Greenbank Hotel’s Head Chef, said: “I am delighted to be able to get involved with this year’s Big Lunch. I think the initiative is a fantastic effort to bring our communities closer together and I’m looking forward to working with the winning Big Lunchers to show how easy it is to throw together a delicious meal.”

The Greenbank Hotel in Falmouth is a stylish waterside hotel overlooking the Fal Estuary. Sanjay joined The Greenbank in February 2008 and is committed to producing organic and nature-friendly menus.
